02/40 Credit books

The small books displayed in this large pocket holder are from the Piotrowski Grocery Store formerly located at 129-133 Washington Street. Each book belongs to a single individual or business (namely people or businesses located on the northside of Manistee where the store was located). A typical receipt shows what they purchased, how much it cost, and when they paid for it.

 

The Piotrowski Grocery Store was later taken over by renowned artist, Joseph Trevitts who married Tina Piotrowski, daughter of original grocery store owner, Jacob Piotrowski. Trevitts and his wife continued to operate the store for decades.
